family

I've been reflecting on why we would want to go forward with this project. I think a family weblog is mainly about extended family and friends having a place to go to see us and hear our thoughts-at least the ones we care to put down on paper. The web is a very public place, so I suppose I have some reservations about the whole concept. We could lock down the blog, make it accessible for the few, but I think one of the great things about this instrument is how it gives old friends a chance to catch a little glimpse of of our lives as we're living them now. So here's the Griffitts family as it stands: The centerpiece is the one who ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time one night in the summer of 1996. Heidi Lemmon was caught in my crosshairs and all she had to do to escape was politely refuse to move things beyond my first (though admittedly smooth) advances. By the summer of 1997 she was Heidi Griffitts, and I think neither of us had any idea what we were getting into. Eliza arrived in April of 1998, Megan in July of 2000, Grant in October of 2003, and Anna just about a year ago. What cherished little ones these are. My life is now devoted to providing for their needs, and where my abilities fall flat, Heidi shines. I don't feel inclined at the moment to delve into my job, our moves about the western US, our house, or our heating bills. When I step away from all of those distractions, all I see is a family. The one thing that will last.
